デクニャーノという名の由来は1212年までさかのぼり、当時イタリアのオルヴィエートにある教会 “Saint Mary of Decugnano”とその僧侶たちが飲むワインを造るためにブドウ栽培が行われていた周辺の土地に対して与えられた名称です。その当時オルヴィエートの中でも最も素晴らしいワインを産むことで有名なこの土地を1973年にクラウディオ・バルビが購入しました。1978年にワインをリリース以来、革新と品質の向上に努めており、2008年には父親クラウディオ同様ワインへの情熱を持つ息子、エンツオ・バルビが経営に加わりました。

The name “Decugnano” appears for the first time in 1212: it was the name given to the church of “Saint Mary of Decugnano” and the surrounding land, where grapes were grown to make wine for the clergy in Orvieto.
Claudio Barbi bought this land in 1973 as the area was famous for its exceptional wine, considered at the time one of the best produced in Orvieto. In 1978 the first Decugnono dei Barbi wine was introduced to the market. Since then it has been synonymous with innovation and quality. Enzo Barbi joined the company in 2008, sharing with his father Claudio the same passion for wine.
